Event Speaking During a Pandemic
Writing this in early 2021, looking back on the last year or so, it has been a strange time. Particularly for people who are used to speaking at technology industry events, such as conferences, user groups and meetups. The world has had to go virtual, with “to Zoom” becoming a verb, so events have either been cancelled or gone virtual too.
I only spoke at one event in 2020 (on DevOps adoption at the really good GOTOpia Europe in September – they adapted really well) and I’ve just spoken on API security at ACCU 2021 (again virtually and another step forwards in how to create an online event). They were both good experiences and congratulations are due to both teams for a great job in adapting to the virtual format. Well done!
I’m sure I’m not the only one looking forward to a face-to-face event or two (the sort with “3D people” as one of my colleagues puts it) later in the year though …
